Wonderbox – March edition

5 Apr

I’m always excited to receive my beauty boxes, so I was like ‘Yay!’ when my March Wonderbox arrived.

Pretty grey ribbon! This would be the skincare version.

As usual, product card and voucher. This month’s RM30 Murad voucher is the same as last month’s. Not shown here is the 50% off voucher for Dr. Fuchs Regeneration Maximum Energy Serum. Now let’s look at the goodies one by one.

Murad Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture (7.5ml) from their Age-Reform range

It claims to be Murad’s most opulent moisturiser and locks in moisture for 8 hours. Looking forward to try this.

Murad Oil-free Sunscreen SPF 30 (10ml)

We all know how important sunscreen is and I admit, I’ve not been very diligent in using it. Mostly because of how sticky it makes my skin feel. Let’s see if this one agrees with my skin.

Murad Active Radiance Serum (3.7ml)

According to the product info card, this serum “delivers 50 times the collagen-building, skin-brightening and cell-protecting power of ordinary topical Vitamin C”. Sounds power-packed. Not cheap too at RM398/30ml. No wonder it came in such a small vial.

Wild Ferns Manuka Honey Conditioning Hand Creme (30ml)

Yay! I like manuka honey so I’m glad I got this. Smells quite pleasant too.

Dr. Fuchs Secrets Midnight Secret Emergency Augen pads (2 pads)

These pads are said to regenerate, revitalise and detox skin for short nights, making you look like you got 8 hours of sleep.

Ok everybody, say ‘cheese’!

Overall, I’m quite happy with the products. I prefer skincare to makeup anyway, plus I like Murad because I think their products are high quality and high value. The hand creme also looks promising.

Now for the dollar value of the box:

1) Murad Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture (RM298/50ml) | RM45/7.5ml

2) Murad Oil-free Sunscreen SPF 30 (RM170/50ml) | RM34/10ml

3) Murad Active Radiance Serum (RM398/30ml) | RM49/3.7ml

4) Wild Ferns Manuka Honey Conditioning Hand Creme (RM69/85ml) | RM24/30ml The price was not provided on the card, but a cursory search online put the price at roughly RM45/85ml.

5) Dr. Fuchs Secrets Midnight Secret Emergency Augen pads (RM240/8 pads) | RM60/2 pads

That makes this box worth about RM212!

That wraps up this post. As usual, hop on over to Wonderbox if you think they give good value and are thinking of giving them a try.

February Wonderbox – CNY Edition

4 Mar

Hi ladies, I had been eagerly waiting for my February Wonderbox to arrive ever since I subscribed, but even more so once I received my Lilac Box. Anyway, when it finally did I got straight to unboxing it.

The February box came with a yellow/gold ribbon.

We are first greeted by a thank you card itemising the goodies in the box and another card about their Wonderpoints system to earn more points so we can redeem free boxes! They are also working towards enabling the redemption of beauty and cosmetic products with Wonderpoints soon.

The goodies! The box is decorated with brown paper strips making it look like a nest and pink cherry blossoms.

First up, the vouchers. 20% off Jacqueline Burchell products and RM30 gift voucher for Murad products purchased online.

Murad’s T-Zone Pore Refining Gel and Energizing Pomegranate Moisturiser. I haven’t tried Murad’s products before so am very excited to try these.

H2O+ Marine Toner and Face Oasis Dual-action Exfoliating Cleanser

Last but not least, Jacqueline Burchell nail lacquer. I was hoping to get their Emerald Green collection but these were nice too. From left are White Dwarf (gunmetal grey), Cosmic Rays (metallic blue-green) and Radio Galaxy (shimmery purple).

Let’s take a look at the value, shall we?

1. Murad Vitalic T-Zone Pore Refining Gel (3.7ml) – RM228/50ml so it’s about RM16.80

2. Murad Energizing Pomegranate Moisturiser (30ml) – RM180/50ml so RM108

3. H2O+ Marine Toner (30ml) – RM99/200ml so it’s about RM14.85

4. H2O+ Oasis Dual-action Exfoliating Cleanser (30ml) – RM99/120ml so it’s RM24.75

5. Jacqueline Burchell (5ml) – SGD9/RM22 each ~ RM66

So all in all it’s a total value of RM230.40 (excluding vouchers) for RM39.90 you pay for the box. If this gets you excited to give them a try, sign up here and get your surprise next month.

Nails Inc. and MUA Nail Quake

18 Feb

Hi lovelies, how was your recent holiday season? Mine was pretty hectic with the numerous visitors to the house, preparing food, cleaning… whew. Glad it’s over.

Anyway, I mentioned previously that I have MUA Nail Quakes. Here I’m using the shade Shattered Ice on Nails Inc.’s Piccadilly Circus. I got my Nails Inc. when I was in England some time ago but they are coming to Malaysia this March via Sephora! So Nails Inc. is really big in the UK, with a chain of nail bars in department stores serving a reported 10,000 customers per week! Their lines are catwalk inspired with regular collaborations with fashion designers. They have a wide range of colours and collections with special effects like leather and concrete effects.

Piccadilly Circus is a dark cerise/pink colour. I usually go for blues, silvers and neutrals, but I like this colour very much. Nails Inc. polishes are reputed for their staying power which is part of why they’re so popular. Why don’t you check them out when they come to our shores and let me know what you think?

Now on to MUA’s Nail Quake. I’ve never done shatter/cracked nail polish so this is my first time. I used Shattered Ice which is a metallic silver colour. Applying it thinly or thickly gets you different effects. I noticed where I had it on a bit thickly it doesn’t crack as much so you can experiment with different looks.

Here’s a pic I took at Day 3 after a lot of vigorous washing and moving of stuff as the last of our new year visitors left. Some wear and chips at the edges, but not too obvious due to the nature of crackle polishes. I’d say not too bad.

Day three

For those of you who are interested to check out Nails Inc., they should be launched in Sephora in March along with two other new nail colour brands Butter London and Ciaté. Their products range from RM45 to RM109 for their collections.

As for MUA, you can get them from their website. I do have 4 brand new bottles I’m looking to let go of. Drop me an email if you’re interested.

From left: Jailbreak, Shiver, Broken Arrow, Quiver.

Shiver is a light pink with a very slight tinge of peach and Broken Arrow is a metallic dark purple. For some reason, Quiver looks really light in the picture. It’s actually a deep solid cobalt blue.

Hope you enjoyed that little post. Till next time!
