Lilac Box 3 – A Weighty Affair

19 Jun

Hello ladies,

It’s been some time since my last post and I thought I’d better get on it before my posts start piling up even more. This is my third Lilac Box, which I also got mum (her first beauty box!). So this is what we received:

Image

Pretty lilac lace ribbon

Image

Quite a full and heavy box.

Image

First up, Payot Pate Grise and Speciale 5 (1ml each). I quite like this but wish there was more. It does dry up spots quickly.

Image

Phyto botanical hair relaxing balm (15ml). I love green, botanical products so I like this as well, plus my hair tends to get frizzy. I do like my natural waves though, so as long as it doesn’t straighten them out too much I’m happy.

Image

Max Factor Ageless Elixir foundation & serum (10ml). Well, I like the fact that they gave so many samples to make up for the sachets. The texture and coverage is good too. However, the shades are a tad too pink to match my skin tone. It also has this light fragrance which, while not overpowering, would have been better without.

Image

Babor HSR extra firming cream and eye cream. I’m quite excited to try this out. I like eye creams and so far you don’t see it much in beauty boxes.

Image

Yves Rocher Fresh Rose shower gel (200ml). Yay! Nice big bottle with a lovely scent. Very happy with this.

Image

And finally, See by Chloe (1.2ml). As I probably mentioned before, I’m not much of a fragrance person. This one is not bad though.

Here are the list of items and approximate value:

1. Payot Pate Grise and Speciale 5, 2ml (RM93/15ml) – RM12.40

2. Phyto phytodefrisant botanical hair relaxing balm, 15ml (RM90/100ml) – RM13.50

3. Max Factor Ageless Elixir foundation & serum, 10ml (RM78/30ml) – RM26

4. Babor HSR extra firming cream, 3ml (RM650/60ml) – RM32.50

5. Babor HSR extra firming eye cream, 3ml (RM490/30ml) – RM49

6. Yves Rocher Fresh Rose shower gel, 200ml – RM39

7. See by Chloe, 1.2ml

So the grand total is roughly RM172.40. If you like what you see, hop on over to The Lilac Box to find out more about Box 4.

The Lilac Box 2

5 Apr

Hi y’all! How nice it is to keep receiving packages in the mail. My Lilac Box 2 arrived a few days after I received my March Wonderbox so it was just delightful.

Image

Their usual brown cardboard box (which I really like) and lilac ribbon (I prefer this one over the previous polka-dotted one). My first impression: This feels quite heavy.

Image

Green crepe paper tied with brown straw. And something smells lovely.

A welcome note from the 3 guys at Lilac Box

The main reason for the weight: Redken Intra Force Shampoo and Toner (145ml each)

I’ve used Redken products before and they’re not bad although I have stopped because there are so many others to try! This allows me to sample their other products. My shampoo bottle was slightly open with some product dribbling out, but it was mostly safe. Some girls weren’t so lucky.

VLUU L200 / Samsung L200

Nuxe Reve de Miel Face Cleansing and Makeup Removing Gel (15ml), Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Usage Dry Oil (10ml)

I’ve never heard of Nuxe before this, but apparently their dry oil has quite a following. I realised that part of the scent comes from the dry oil. 98.1% of it consists of natural ingredients with 30% plant oils and Vitamin E. You can use it for your face, body and hair. I gave it a little go and found that it does absorb quickly into the skin without feeling oily.

VLUU L200 / Samsung L200

Lunasol Skin Fusing Powder Foundation (0.6g), Lunasol Smoothing Makeup Base (2g)

This powder foundation claims to provide the radiant finish that liquid and cream foundations have been able to provide, but powder foundations have not. It “combines beautifully with your skin in that it becomes a part of your skin rather than just being applied to the surface, and coats your skin to produce the appearance of no pores or roughness”. Sounds good, and it comes with a little sponge applicator.

The makeup base is formulated to be used together with the powder foundation, smoothing out bumps and pores and allowing the foundation to adhere to the skin better.

VLUU L200 / Samsung L200

The main cause of the scent: Calvin Klein Beauty EDP and Sheer Beauty EDT (1.2ml each)

CK Beauty is described as “the ultimate feminity of a luminous and modern floral” while Sheer Beauty is “transparent sensuality captured in a fresh fruity floral”. In the picture above, you only see Beauty. That’s because my Sheer Beauty broke, which is such a pity because I really like the smell. I like light, fresh scents and this one fits the bill.

And the customary family portrait!

So those are the 8 products in this edition of the Lilac Box.

1) Redken Intra Force Shampoo (RM60/290ml) | RM30/145ml

2) Redken Intra Force Toner (RM65/245ml) | RM38.50/145ml

3) Nuxe Reve de Miel Face Cleansing and Makeup Removing Gel (RM68/200ml) | RM5.10/15ml

4) Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Usage Dry Oil (RM148/100ml) | RM14.80/10ml

5) Lunasol Skin Fusing Powder Foundation (RM148/10.5g) Case and refill sold separately | RM8.50/0.6g

6) Lunasol Smoothing Makeup Base (RM118/30g) | RM7.90/2g

7) Calvin Klein BeautyEDP 1.2ml (RM361/100ml) | RM4.30/1.2ml

8) Calvin Klein Sheer Beauty EDT (RM325/100ml) | RM3.90/1.2ml

This gives you a total value of RM113 for RM49.90. If you’re interested to subscribe to the next box when they open for orders, check their website or Facebook page for updates.

*Drumroll please* The Lilac Box is here!

6 Feb

The beauty box craze has caused beauty boxes to pop up over the past few months. One of the most recent ones to join the fray is The Lilac Box, which incidentally is started by three guys. Their much anticipated Valentine-themed debut box sold for an introductory price of RM35 and is said to contain only premium products. This is my first beauty box.

Needless to say, I was very excited when this came!

Tada! How pretty. Love the sturdy brown box.

A little love note from The Lilac Box.

Lilac Box vouchers

A RM50 cash voucher for Centro Hair Salon and a signature Aromaplasty Facial at RM98 by Decleor.

Kerastase Resistance K

Kérastase Resistance Bain Force Architecte Reconstructing shampoo (80ml) is a daily, reconstructing shampoo for weakened to very damaged hair. Although I won’t say my hair is weak or very damaged, I’m excited to try this simply because I’ve heard so much about it.

Kérastase Resistance Ciment Anti-Usure reinforcing and refinishing treatment (75ml) is a daily conditioner that helps strengthen hair fibre and prevent breakage and split ends. This looks good too and I will be trying it out today.

Roberto Cavalli body lotion

Roberto Cavalli body lotion (30ml). This sample sized body lotion has a musky-floral scent. I’m not really into strong perfumes but I’m sure there are many out there who like it.

Max Factor Nailfinity

Max Factor limited edition Nailfinity mini nail polish. Mine came in the colour Boji, which is a kind of plum-purple colour.

Decleor Aroma Cleanse

Decleor Aroma Cleanse Essential cleansing milk (10ml) and Essential tonifying lotion (10ml) came in a very cute little pouch!

Burberry Beauty Fresh Glow

Burberry Beauty Fresh Glow luminous fluid base (1ml x 4). It’s a “unique moisturising fluid base and highlighting skin care formula” which “moisturises and perfects all skin tones, soothes and softens skin and help to restore elasticity of the skin’s epidermis”. Sounds really good, excited to try this as well.

The Lilac Box Feb box

Now let’s look at the value of the goodies.

1.  Kérastase Resistance Bain Force Architecte Reconstructing shampoo (80ml) – RM78 for 250ml so about RM25

2. Kérastase Resistance Ciment Anti-Usure reinforcing and refinishing treatment (75ml) – RM90 for 200ml so approx. RM34

3. Roberto Cavalli body lotion (30ml) – £25 for 150ml so approx. RM24

4. Max Factor limited edition Nailfinity mini nail polish – no info on this

5. Decleor Aroma Cleanse Essential cleansing milk (10ml) and Essential tonifying lotion (10ml) – The 400ml duo set is selling at a promo price of RM305 which makes this set ~RM7.60

6. Burberry Beauty Fresh Glow luminous fluid base (4ml) – RM150 for 30ml so it’s RM20 for 4ml

All in all, there’s a good mix of haircare, skincare, makeup and nail colour. And you’re getting RM110.60 in value (excluding nail polish and vouchers) by paying only RM35. Is that a good deal or what? If you’re thinking of giving them a go, register to get your blind date in a box

Have a happy week ahead!

MUA Undressed palette!

1 Feb

Hi dearies! Hope you had a great week and looking forward to the Chinese New Year next week. Today, I’m going to share some thoughts on MUA’s coveted Undressed palette.

When I first got my palette last December, I was really excited as it has some really nice shades. The overall colour is slightly cooler than the Heaven and Earth palette and although I quite like warm colours, I find myself using this palette more. Let’s look at the colours, shall we?

MUA eyeshadows don’t really have names. Here they are referred to as “Shade 1”, “Shade 2” etc. Same slim plastic case with double-ended sponge-tip applicator.

In this palette, there are two matte shades, Shade 3 and 5 which can be good contour shades. I must say MUA’s strength is their shimmers. As you can see, these two colours hardly show up at all. Other than these two, the rest are lovely and buttery soft. I love Shades 1, 2, 6, 8 and 9! What are your favourite colours?

As mentioned in my previous post, I have two of these palettes available, brand new and authentic. Drop me a line if you’re interested 😉

Till the next post!

Yay! MUA Heaven and Earth palette

31 Jan

I’ve heard so much about MUA so I finally ordered a few items: Heaven and Earth palette, Undressed palette, primer, eXtreme Volume mascara and the F2 stippling brush. Oh, I also have a few Nail Quakes. In this post, I’ll be talking about the Heaven and Earth palette so let’s get to it.

MUA Heaven and Earth Palette MUA Heaven and Earth palette

Sorry for the picture quality. I have to learn how to do this better.

There are 12 colours in this palette, all of them with a satin or shimmer finish. It comes with a double-ended sponge-tip applicator and see-through lid. This is really helpful if you don’t remember which colours are in which palettes.

I did do a swatch, although there may be many clearer ones you’ll find on other reviews.

MUA Heaven and Earth Palette swatch

Generally, they are very soft and easy to work with. I like neutral colours so this is my cup of tea. Most of them are well-pigmented and some more so than others. The 5th colour on top and 3rd one at the bottom are the most pigmented in my opinion. Colours 1 and 4 on top and 2, 4, 6 at the bottom have the least colour payoff but it’s buildable so no worries. Oh, another thing I like about them is the staying power. Not only do they go on easily, they stay there for quite some time even though I’m in hot and humid Malaysia. Coupled with a good eye primer and you’re set!

MUA is not available in Malaysia yet but you can order them from http://www.muastore.co.uk International shipping is £7.50. I have two of these palettes, two Undressed palettes, one F2 stippling brush and 4 Nail Quakes extra because after I bought them a dear friend got them for my birthday! How sweet. Pm me if you’re interested in any of these.

So, have you tried the MUA Heaven and Earth palette? What do you think about it? Let me know in the comments!
